4,500L Dual Stage Septic Tank:

This tank has a concrete dividing wall which splits the tank into 2/3 raw sewage and 1/3 secondary treatment zones. The sewage is processed by retention and settlement before carrying over to the second chamber - thereby providing a better quality effluent before being discharged to the drainage field. The tank is fitted with a secondary effluent filter which assists with improved quality effluent. The drainage fields last longer with this model of septic tank design.
The Dual Stage Septic Tank is suitable for applications where a wastemaster may be utilised in the household, or on steep sites where the tank is installed considerably lower than the house. The effect of steep drains cause surges within the tank when a high volume of water is discharged - typically when a washing machine empties. This effect can cause overflow of suspended solids into the drainage field. Using the Dual Stage Tank helps prevent this.

This is the most common type of septic tank for standard applications. It is fitted with a secondary effluent filter which protects the drainage field and stops suspended solids greater than 1.5mm from passing into the fields and causing blockage.
